How to Update Toji Motion Without Losing Projects
Toji Motion updates manually, so the backup is the update. This guide carries projects, presets and settings into a new Toji Motion build safely.

Why the Backup Is the Update
A store app updates itself and keeps its data by design. Toji Motion updates by installing a new build, and while an install over the old build normally preserves projects, normally is not a plan. The Toji Motion new version facts on the home page tell you when a build has changed; this guide tells you how to cross over without gambling your edits on that normally.
The whole routine takes ten minutes: back up, install, verify with a familiar project, then work. Skipping it saves ten minutes once and can cost every project you own.
Back Up Projects and Presets
Export or copy every project file you care about to a folder outside the app, and do the same for your preset shelf, the least replaceable files you own, as the presets guide argues. Keep the backup in two places if the edits matter: phone storage plus a cloud folder or a computer.
Also finish or freeze anything mid-render. An update landing between a project and its export is an invitation to the faults catalogued in the fixes guide.
Install and Verify
Install the new build over the old one. Open a familiar, finished project first, not a new one, and play it end to end: keyframes where you left them, effects intact, text correct. Export its last ten seconds and compare with the old export if you kept one. Only when the familiar project survives do you start new work.
If the new build misbehaves on your phone, your backup lets you return to the older build without losing work. That reversibility is the real feature of the manual update path, and the safety framing in the install checklist explains it fully.
Make It a Rhythm
Check for new builds on a schedule that suits you, monthly is plenty for most editors, rather than chasing every post in a community channel. Read what changed before installing: an effects build matters to effect-heavy editors and can wait for everyone else. Get the current build from the download page on this site, and keep the routine identical every time.
Quick Answers
Will updating Toji Motion delete my projects?
Installing over the old build normally keeps them, but back up projects and presets first so a bad day costs nothing.
How often should I update?
Check monthly or when a build adds something you need. There is no prize for installing every build on release day.
What if the new build works worse on my phone?
Your backup lets you reinstall the older build and restore your projects and presets without losing work.
